Before you begin

  • Load a model or select a compatible remote endpoint. The current chat model writes the plan, notes, and final report.
  • Use Simple or Advanced experience mode. Deep Research is unavailable in Beginner mode, while Off-Grid is enabled, or when organization policy blocks web research.
  • Web research needs a network connection. Search queries and selected source URLs reach the configured search services; a remote model receives the material needed to write the report.

Review the plan, then start

  1. Open Deep Research from Tools or the chat’s available actions and enter a focused question.
  2. Generate a plan. Review and edit its sub-questions before running it.
  3. Choose Start Research. Noema searches each step, keeps sources numbered across the run, and writes cited findings.
  4. Open the completed report’s citations to inspect the original sources. The finished run collapses into a summary row showing its steps and sources.

Stop, resume, and reuse

Use Stop to pause work and Resume when ready. Progress is saved after steps so an interrupted run can continue. Noema does not undo a deliberate stop when you reopen the app.

Use Make Flashcards or Audio Overview on a finished report. Audio generation requires an available voice setup. Save the podcast to Stored for later listening.

If a step fails, check network access, provider settings, and the displayed error. A background interruption can pause work until Noema becomes active again.
